Sharon Baptist church has an extremely
active music ministry that is dedicated to ministering to the church
and to the community through God-exalting music. The music ministry
is based on I Peter 2:9 which says, "You are a chosen generation, a
royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession,
that you may proclaim the praises of Him who has called you out of
darkness into His marvelous light." Another foundational scripture
is Ephesians 5:19. This verse tells us "speak to one another in
psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with
your heart to the Lord." Based on these two scriptures we are to
proclaim his praises through a variety of musical styles because we
have been called out of darkness into God's wonderful light.
Sharon Baptist offers various
opportunities for people to participate in leading worship. First of
all, the Celebration Choir is comprised of adults 18 years of
age and older. The celebration choir sings every Sunday morning and
in most of the Wednesday evening services. The choir has led worship
in many events such as the TN Baptist Pastor's Conference, Bailey
Smith's Real Evangelism Crusade, Songfest with the Hoppers, and in
many revivals in the surrounding area. Over the past few years, the
Celebration Choir has been involved in 3 recording projects and 1
DVD.
Living 423 is the youth choir of
Sharon Baptist Church. This choir is comprised of students in
6th-12th grades. The name of the group is
taken from John 4:23 which states, "But an hour is coming and now
is when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and
truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers."
Living 423 sings once a month in the worship service and they also
minister in the community through various events. This choir also
sings every summer on a choir tour.
God's Kingdom Kids is the
children's choir of Sharon Baptist Church. This choir consists of
children in pre-k through the 5th grade. God's Kingdom
Kids sing in one of the worship services once every 6 weeks during
the school year. They participate in the Christmas presentation and
they also have a spring musical every year in May.
Sharon Baptist Church also offers the
Savannah Music Academy under the direction of John Simmons.
This is a vital ministry which teaches all ages to play and to sing
skillfully before the Lord and to take that training and utilize it
